The Verdict: Read It

We presently have more information, data, and opportunities to build wealth than ever before. But with these advantages comes a lot of noise. Everyone and their grandmother (literally) has an opinion about the best methods for building wealth. In The Algebra of Wealth, Scott Galloway cuts through this noise and offers a sobering playbook on how to approach building wealth in the 21st century. Unlike many investing books, Galloway holds off on getting into the nitty gritty of economics until the latter third of the book. The first two acts are entirely dedicated to the importance of developing self-awareness and discipline and building one’s character because your character dictates your habits and your habits dictate how you will think about money, make money, spend money (which Galloway 10/10 recommends), save money, and manage your assets in the short- and long-term. Furthermore, Galloway’s breakdown of the market and how to invest is to the point and practical. In an age where everyone is trying to get rich as quickly as possible, The Alegebra of Wealth is a refreshing reminder that building wealth isn’t necessarily sexy and that there is no substitute for hard work, patience, and consistency.
