Broke Millennial Takes on Investing — Erin Lowry

The Gist

The lady who wrote Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together decided she wanted to talk about investing (even though she recommends not investing if you’re under mounds of crippling student loan debt).

Verdict: Just Google It

In typical Lowry fashion Broke Millennial Takes on Investing is approachable and conversational. The book is meant to be a primer for millennials (or any person under the age of 40, really) on how to get started with investing. Lowry does a good job of keeping her explanations brief and digestible. She also offers action items at the end of each chapter to recap what was covered and to help readers determine if, what, and how they should start investing. However, in trying to cover so many bases Broke Millennial Takes on Investing feels more like a mini dictionary than a guide. Coupled with the fact that readers could just Google many of the terms and concepts Lowry dives into as they get started, it often feels like most of the chapters would be better suited to live in a searchable blog post, rather than in a physical book. But, hey, at least fans of Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together got themselves a sequel.
